2-YEAR COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM
These classes are designed to offer actors a comprehensive training in the Meisner and Chekhov Techniques.
- Classes meet in 8 week sessions for a total of 10 sessions.
- Sessions follow a progression over a 2 year period (18 months total).
- Students can enter this program at the beginning of any new 8-week session (next one starts 3/18!)
- Enrollment includes a FREE Saturday Seminar each month

Come to both in one day or mix and match!
While we encourage taking both techniques, there is also the option to focus on a single technique.
Voice Acting Boot Camp!
- This 4-week intensive, taught by Casting Director Gary Giambo and voice actor Callie Ray, will be an introduction to 4 key areas essential to today’s VO industry. Each week we will focus on 1 of those areas. A class cap of ten participants ensures that everyone will have time to read, receive and implement feedback, and ask questions.
- Takes place ON ZOOM, the first four Sundays in June, 1-4pm
- Class limited to 10 students to ensure time for individual feedback each session

- These classes are designed to enhance our COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM and are available at no additional cost to anyone who is a current student at the Studio. They are also open to non-Studio participants for a class fee.

- Self-Tape auditions are here to stay--learn how to make yours like a Pro! Professional actor and videographer Aulio Ivan will cover finding auditions, how to prepare, what to avoid, and all the technical aspects of self-taping. 10am - 1pm, at 5700 El Cajon Blvd (NEW VENUE!)
- Facilitated by Aulio Ivan, Dominican actor, photographer, and filmmaker based in San Diego, CA. His acting journey started brewing after working as an advertising manager in exhibition and distribution for films with all the major studios for seven years. Beginning his consistent training in 2016 to this date, Aulio introduced himself as an artist by starring, writing, and directing the award-winning short film Swingers. Since then, Aulio has been working as a performer in national commercials, music videos, live events, theater, and feature films. Register HERE.

- Need more tips for prepping monologues for audition and performance? Then this workshop is for you! Experienced actor, director, and educator Jaeonnie Davis-Crawford will provide you with tools for tackling even the toughest text.
- Facilitator Bio: Jaeonnie Davis-Crawford is a theatre artist who was born and raised in San Diego and has a BA in Theatre Arts from SDSU. With over a decade of experience in the industry, she has worked in numerous capacities with theatre companies around the county. Her ability to work collaboratively with her peers always results in cohesive and impressive final products. Jaeonnie is passionate about telling imaginative stories that resonate with and reflect the cultural fabric of the community, which shows in her favorite type of work: Forum Theatre.Register HERE

- Foiling Around: Theatrical Sword Fighting Basics, 6/29, 10am-1pm, Location TBD

- This interactive workshop will introduce students to the fundamentals of theatrical sword fighting. Experience the basic footwork, stances, cuts, thrusts, parries, and avoidances in a safe and playful manner.
- Facilitator Bio: Randi McKenzie, Emerita Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at San Diego State University, has been a teacher, coach and student of fencing over the course of 5 decades. Ranked as high as second in the nation in women’s Sabre fencing, she has competed in all three weapons and has trained with the Society of American Fight Directors and Humble Warriors. For four seasons, she was the first sword fighting instructor in the Old Globe/USD MFA program. Currently she volunteers at SDSU teaching an array of aspiring students. Register HERE.

ADVANCED SCENE STUDY & DIRECTING
This class brings actors who are interested in directing together in one class. Participants can choose to act or direct only or take the opportunity to direct a short piece as well as act in one. You’ll be directing each other. Working directors will offer ways of engaging in the process of building a scene or short play as we progress through stages of rehearsing a play. You will be expected to spend time outside of class working with your partners. Class structure will depend on who is in the class. MCITStudio Faculty and Guest Directors will guide the process.
Note that we may integrate this class with our new SOLO ARTISTS COLLECTIVE class.

See online workshops explore various aspects of the Michael Chekhov Technique. They differ from our regular Chekhov classes as they delve more deeply into concepts and aspects of the work. Classes may vary in format from 1 day to up to 8 weeks. Topics might include Exploring Archetypes, Psychological Gesture, Creating and Working with Atmospheres, Developing Deep Awareness through the Chekhov Technique, Working with Chekhov’s First 9 Psychophysical Exercises. Taught by Artistic Director/Chekhov Specialist, Liz Shipman, and adapted for Zoom, actors can develop their skills, presence and artistic individuality from the convenience of your personal space. * This class can count as a part of our COMPREHENSIVE or STUDIO CHEKHOV PROGRAMS.

Each Session has a specific focus--ADVANCED SCENE STUDY, REHEARSAL PROCESS & PERFORMANCE, INDIVIDUAL ACTING PROCESS where actors may work on material from either Comprehensive class, self-chosen monologues or scenes, activities, character work, audition material or self-devised work. Each Session features both the Chekhov and Meisner Approach and/or Integrated explorations. Throughout each Session, actors receive INDIVIDUALIZED COACHING/FEEDBACK based on both Techniques and Integrations. Our approach engages the "whole actor" working truthfully in given circumstances. This class functions much like a "lab" and is designed to allow actors to develop facility in the Integration Process. This class is considered part of our Comprehensive curriculum, as a class for Studio Alumni and can be taken as a stand alone workshop.
